Our staff: professional, experienced and caring

• Our medical director, Dr. John Walen, M.D., has served at the center two days per week since 2000, and he often extends his time there. He has 25 years experience as a primary care physician.

• The executive director, Karen Kaashoek, R.N., has worked full-time at the center since 1999. She has extensive experience in hospitals and clinics.

• A second nurse, who has broad clinical experience, works two days per week.

• Both of our nurse practitioners are on duty one day per week, and they frequently volunteer extra time.

• A physical therapist and a massage therapist volunteer part-time.

• Catherine’s is a training site for nursing students from Calvin College and Grand Rapids Community College and for medical assistants from the Everest Institute.
